Coherent Selves Create Coherent Cultures
The Ceremonial Magic of Hands-Off
After the resounding turnout for Hands-Off, I am convinced that change is happening. Although it's beyond me to predict how, that is not the point and that is what I want to dig into.
The point is, you can't predict or plan for what spontaneously emerges. Emergence cannot be pre-planned. It is the spontaneous arising of something completely new. It bubbles up from below, untouched by embedded memories and our mental bodies' compulsion to put their imprinted thumbs on the scale of what is possible.
As much as we know that we desire a return to the stability and legal protection of a government that takes care of people, we cannot go back to what was. We are generating a new culture. There is no going back to the future. Humanity is evolving.
Rational methods alone cannot bring the transformation this moment is demanding. Much of this work takes place below conscious thought.
To paraphrase David Bohm, reality is not a bunch of separate things, like Social Security, Medicaid and the economy. It is also part of a deeper implicate order unfolding a deeper intelligence into space and time. This is the fundamental flow of a living, conscious universe evolving. That intelligence wants to evolve through us, when we are open, listening, coherent and interconnected in ways that nurture life.
When we feel into the energy of the field, we get the sense that evolution is already underway as a metamorphosis too big for us to grasp.
Take heart though, we're not stumbling around in the dark. We have a superpower called aliveness that births desire, self-creating agency, and the power to enact our desires into being. Enactment is what we did at Hands Off. Millions of us took our bodies and souls to rallies where we called forth a world we want to see. Make no mistake, this was a sacred enactment of ceremony that we cannot underestimate.
Trust that we are not only moral, reasonable individuals standing up for our values. Trust that as old systems are collapsing new ones are emerging. We are being called to speak them into being through transforming ourselves to thrive in heart-centered, embodied, presence and purpose and to host the complexity of ourselves and a world in flux. Only then will we see the changes we want to see. Trust that it is already happening in the energy of the field. Don't discount the mystical, not-yet manifest changes that we set on Saturday. We created a template for regeneration. We are part of a great story of evolution.
